Connect your Domain to the Wix Name Servers

Connect your GoDaddy domain to Wix by using Wix name servers. With this process, Wix manages your DNS however your domain remains registered with GoDaddy.

You should use this method if you do not have any other DNS records connected at GoDaddy like your email. But, you would want to use the pointing method if you have several DNS records you’d prefer not to reconfigure. NOTE:- You must upgrade your Wix site to a Premium Plan before you can connect your domain to Wix. Otherwise, it will not work. You can not connect your domain to a free Wix account.

Step 1 | Connect your GoDaddy Domain to Your Wix Account

The very first step in this process is to connect the domain at Wix end. Go to the Domains page in your Wix account and add the domain by selecting Connect a domain you already own.

  1. Go to the Domains section in your premium Wix account.
  2. Click Connect a domain you already own.
    (click Add an Existing Domain, and then select Connect a domain you already own.)
  3. Select your site and connect your domain and click Next.
  4. Enter your domain name and click Next to finish this first process of connecting the domain.

Step 2 |Login to GoDaddy Account and Go To My Products

Login into the GoDaddy account and then go to My Products section.

Step 3 | Go To Domains section

When you are in the domains section then you can see all your domains listed. Choose the domain you want to connect with Wix and then click on DNS next to it.

Step 4 |Go To Name Servers Section In DNS Page

On the next page, you can see all your DNS records. Scroll down on this page and you will see the name servers section on the bottom left-hand side corner. Then Click on Change next to the name servers.

Step 5 |Choose Custom Name Servers

On the next page, you’ll see an option to enter my own name servers (advanced) option. Click on that.

Step 6 |Enter Wix Name Servers

In the end, enter the Wix name servers and hit Save option.

Step 7 | Verify Your Domain Connection At Wix Account

After updating name servers at the GoDaddy account, return to the Domains page in your Wix account and click Verify Connection.


Once you are done with all steps given above then you are all set if you have entered correct name servers. Remember that it takes 24-48 hours for the propagation of DNS once the name servers are updated. If still you face any issue with your site not coming up then you need to contact the website provider.
